Another Victim

On another post, I received the following comment from a reader:

My wife of 51 plus years died of Cancer the day before christmas of 2009. I [had] done everything I could do to get the help she needed, including two trips to the Cancer Treatment centers in Tulsa, and in Eaden Il., 50 miles north of Chicago. I was watching a program on Insp Network, and the speaker this time was a Mike Murdock. I put a $1000.00 [donation] on my debit card. My wife passed away not long after that. They made believe I could get whatever I was praying for, so when my wife died I sent 3 or 4 e-mails and did not get any kind of response from them. So I have really have been burnt. I tried to get my money back, but they didn’t even answer me back. My oldest daughter lives with me now and we only got $10.00 to last to payday. I hope my $1000.00 done some good. My light, phone, and those things may get cut off before I can pay them. Pray for me and my daughter.

These are the kind of people that Todd Coontz and Mike Murdock take advantage of: the poor, the struggling, the sick. Not coincidentally, these are the people Jesus said we were supposed to take care of. That these “ministers” are preying upon such folks ought to tell us who they are working for; it’s not God.

When the rich young ruler asked Jesus, “Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?” Jesus told him that, in addition to keeping the commandments, “If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me” Matthew 19:16, 21).

There are so many worthy charities that provide for the poor and the sick. Dr. Todd Coontz and Mike Murdock and their ilk are not poor and definitely are not worthy of anyone’s support. They take from the poor and the sick to enrich themselves in a twisted perversion of the teachings of Jesus. I’m afraid the only “good” that is done by giving to such evil predators is that we provide them with more money to purchase more television time to victimize more people.

They should be ashamed of themselves, though I’m sure they are not.

It’s these name it and claim it ministers that scare me. I’ve even heard Joel Osteen do it on television, and he’s very handsome and charismatic. You know, if you believe in something enough, and name it in the name of the Lord, it will be yours. These are horrible times to be suggesting such things. People can’t afford these kind of messages, and the spiritual damage is just as bad as the financial. Do these men ever really read the scriptures, or, are they just out for a buck?

    • Shirley says:

I can tell you without doubt. They are out for a buck ONLY. What do they ever teach? They only do “pep talks” on how it’s your day and it’s your time and blah blah blah. They only talk about, what I call, “fluff.” They pick and choose here and there from the Bible and, especially Osteen, says don’t be discouraged and all that crap. Of course God does not want us to be discouraged but none of these TV people EVER teach anything of importance out of the Bible. The only way to seek God is to do it alone with the King James Version of the Bible. Start with the four gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. That gives you a good foundation. There are helps on line for absolutely free, but I don’t want to mention names so as not to offend anyone since this is an open forum. The helps point you to the Bible. They teach how to learn from it. How to put knowledge together. If you want to give a donation, the best way is to give to your local food pantry. There are families in dire need. Churches, these days, are alot of petty nonsense. We’ve tried different ones and they all just want to delve into your personal business and manipulate you. Like another poster said, they are like tattle telling fashion shows. I remember being in a church for a while and when I went to the ladies room, I was met with harsh looks and whispers and just bad feelings. I soon left.

I meant Galatians 3:10 For all who rely on works of the law are under a curse

Galatians 3:19 was a typo but at least I made a retraction unlike most of these prosperity sow a seed and pay for your blessing when pew sitters are losing more jobs and are unemployed!

I think we all should be angry at heretics or false teachers and why is it wrong to call them out? There is such a thing as righteous indignation. Jesus got angry at those merchants in his Fathers house (Temple). Time out for enabling modern day merchants or false teachings.. Even Paul called out Peter in the bible for all to read
Read this and then see it is also in the bible

        Galatians 3:11-14
When Peter came to Antioch, I opposed him to his face, because he stood condemned. 12 For before certain men came from James, he used to eat with the Gentiles. But when they arrived, he began to draw back and separate himself from the Gentiles because he was afraid of those who belonged to the circumcision group. 13 The other Jews joined him in his hypocrisy, so that by their hypocrisy even Barnabas was led astray.

14 When I saw that they were not acting in line with the truth of the gospel, I said to Cephas in front of them all, “You are a Jew, yet you live like a Gentile and not like a Jew. How is it, then, that you force Gentiles to follow Jewish customs?

In the Old Testament there is more on helping the widows, orphan and poor than on the tithe law in almost every book of the bible God is outraged at those mistreating the poor, the orphan and widows but many prosperity teachers target the poor to send in money trying to buy a healing or blessing from God. They can least that can afford. These Prosperity pushers are hurting the poor.

        Isaiah 10:12
They deprive the poor of justice and deny the rights of the needy among my people. They prey on widows and take advantage of orphans.

        James 1:27
Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.

        Proverbs 19:17
If you help the poor, you are lending to the LORD–and he will repay you

Some Prosperity teachers prey on the poor who can’t afford to pay them cash for a blessing, is what I meant to say. Sorry, I’m typing too fast.

When Paul rebuked Peter it was in Galatians 2:11
It was not Galatians 3:11. I need some eyeglasses now.

        Galatians 2:11-14

Read Galatians chapter 2 verses 11 thru 14 where Paul called out Peter both of them were hand picked anointed Apostles of Jesus.

        Galatians 2:11-14

With all the Prosperity messages for the last 20 yrs. the economy is worsening and the poorest denomination according to religious researchers are the black Pentecostals. Why isn’t the money trickling down to the pew sitters? Could it be the whole message was a fraud so the prosperity teachers could get rich at the expense of the gullible bible illiterates?

Read your whole bible from Genesis to Revelation word for word Church goer and you will get clue that Jesus paid for your blessing and said Paid in full to back this up. Paid in full does not mean pay in full or else you will be poor or cursed. Jesus took the curse and nailed it to the cross. Infact if you don’t believe this and try to work for your salvation and favor with God it is just the opposite of what these prosperity teachers are saying, cause the bible said it brings a curse to not accept the grace of God via Jesus payment for you on his cross.

      Galatians 3:19 For all who rely on works of the law are under a curse;

James 2:10 To break one (Old Covenant law) you are guilty of them all.

Read every Leviticus and tell us how many Christians are taught to keep to date? FYI the Jews had 613 Commandments…You can look them up by typing into your search engine Judaism 101 613 Commandments.

Many Gentile Christians are confused and seem to not be able to separate Judaism from Christianity or Old Covenant from the New Covenant.

Creflo Dollar the one who previously said he would shoot all nont tithers to death if not for the blood of Jesus is now preaching on out with the Old (Covenant) in with the New Covenant as if the light bulb in his brain just came on.

Anti-legalist have been saying this for years to much opposition. Now Dollar said their is a tithe law separate from the Old Covenant tithe law based on Abraham’s tithe to Melchizedek. He says the proper way to tithe is what brings the real blessing. This idiot taught the wrong way to tithe for years now he has reversed it? He is still wrong because the tithe Abraham gave Melchizedek was from the spoils (stuff he won from others) of a war and not his own personal stuff. He also only tithe one time. The bible did not say it was ongoing on all of his personal stuff, These spin masters are going to always find a lie to line their pockets.

Why not just quote the bible verse that a worker is worthy of their pay? Or give and it shall be given without stretching and twisting?

I apologize for the incorrect scripture, where I said Paul rebuked Peter in the wrong chapter in Galatians. It is in Galatians chapter two, NOT Galatians chapter three. My vision on small print is not what it used to be. I wish there were more Christian leaders like the Apostle Paul to tell it like it is today but few Christian leaders dare to speak out against false properity teachers are grace robbing tithe legalist. Too sad!
Once again Paul called out Peter in Galatians chapter 2 verses 11-14 so why are so many Christians afraid to name the name of someone getting it wrong over the airwaves or in Christian media? Let the scriptures prove them in error and give us bible verses to compare their false teachings with bible verses to prove their bible errors

I’m not saying I don’t like some of the messages I hear. I like Joyce Meyer, but made the mistake of putting myself on her mailing list. These people spend thousands upon thousands begging for money. They hire people to do only that. Something is amiss in all of this.

  3. S.A. says:

Jesus said in Luke 9:23 “If any man want to come follow me he must deny himself, take up his cross and follow me.

Notice, Jesus did not say sow a money seed to a false prosperity teacher pimping Christians for dollars so they can get rich and own airplanes and mansions.

A cross in Jesus day was not a lovely silver piece of jewelry but an instrument of death, sacrifice and surrender!

I think you sillies who fall for these kind of teachers should dust off your bibles and read what real saints in the early church suffered in Hebrews 11:36-39! You can also read the Book of Acts while you’re at it. They gave up everything to follow Jesus, some even suffered poverty and were put to death just for serving our Lord. This kind of preaching will not tickle the itching ears of Bible illiterates who fall for con artist that twist the gospel for monetary gain.

I dare people who follow sow a seed fakers to also read
2ND Corinthians 11:24-33 and see all the sufferings for Jesus Paul the Apostle endured to the end, (Christian history reports) he was finally beheaded for spreading the Gospel.

Galatians 1:8 it said if anyone comes with another Gospel even an Angel, let him be cursed. The Prosperity Gospel is ANOTHER Gospel.
God will meet your needs if you seek him first but he is not obligated to make you rich to spend in greed and on the lust of your own flesh!!!

May God have mercy on false teachers because God will not suffer them to deceive his church forever!

    • runtu says:

There’s nothing like compassion for the “sillies” from “real Christians.” I thought Christians were supposed to be humble and kind. Maybe not.

Was John the Baptist or Jesus kind when the called fake religious teachers brood of vipers in their day? Some times a reality check and saying it like it is is necessary! Jesus and John the Baptist did to fake teachers in their day.

      • Guest says:

Read what Prophets in the bible called religious fakes Paul even called them dogs. Jesus and John the Baptist called religious fakes brood of vipers. How kind was that?

        Philipians 3:2 Beware of the dogs, beware of the evil workers, beware of the false circumcision;

      • Guest says:

This is what Jesus said, the word sillies was mild in comparison

Matthew 23:33 Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell?
How can is that my friend?

  4. Diane Sower says:

I’ve read for myself just this past year over 50 scriptures that preachers and fundamentalists choose to ignore, that specifically state salvation for all. And I’m flummoxed as to why so many preach hell and damnation, when there’s so much conflicting evidence right in front of their eyes. Do these people learn greek in school, because my pastor did.

Could be that these legalist are GRACE ROBBERS, robbing Christians of their calm, peace, trust and liberty in Christ and Redemption from the curse of the law paid in full by Jesus?
These legalist also use fear of the Malachi 3:7-9 curse to collect ten percent. Tithing for dollars and prosperity usually goes hand in hand.
They need to trust the Holy Spirit to guide the Lord’s sheep enough to hear his voice and follow him.

Galatians 5:1-4 speaks of liberty in Christ. It is about the Grace we have in Christ to be led by the Holy Spirit not external laws on tablets of stone.

      Hebrews 8:13
When God speaks of a “new” covenant, it means he has made the first one obsolete. It is now out of date and will soon disappear.

They mix the two Covenants due to a lack of understanding. Oil and water do not mix. Our new covenant is based on Jesus and is an unconditional covenant paid in full by Jesus on the cross.

Mike Mudd and Todd Koo Ko say they are not saying Gospel or selling miracles for cash but what do you think it is when they promise a blessing or healing for a money seed sown to the ministries they are promoting?
How can they get away with this fraud and if it is using our postal service for mail fraud isn’t this a felony?

I feel sorry for the man who sent in 1,000 for his wife to be healed of cancer, however, when it is your time to go the bible said there is time for everything under Heaven, a time to be born and a time to die which is set by the Sovereignty of God. It hurts to lose a loved one, I personally know this but everyone reading this will be gone from this earth in 100 years or less. With that said, if you need a financial miracle God with Jesus free—–ly Gives Us All things under our New Covenant with God.

You heretics better stop selling the free grace of God paid in full by Jesus on his cross.

    Romans 8:32
    King James Version (KJV)
32 He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?

  6. Guest says:

Correction: I meant Todd Coontz and Mike Murdock say they are not selling the Gospel or miracles for cash but it is obvious they are cause they promise a healing and blessing for cash. (aka a seed they ask folks to sow as in give them)

Check out the book titled “Thieves” written by Trey Smith ex-best friend of Mike Murdock’s adopted son written about the inner bad conduct of Mike Murdock. How anyone can believe anything that comes out of that spin masters mouth is beyond me!!!!

Mike Murdock teaches on the law this and the law of that as if these are real laws, In reality at best they are his principles he renamed as laws of God. He says not obeying the laws aka principles called wisdom keys will block your blessings. Did Mike miss reading Galatians 3:13 how Christians are redeemed from the curse of the law? We are blessed based on the payment Jesus made on the cross not by the seed aka money we sow aka give to some greedy fraudulent TV money grubbing fake evangelist.

Healing for money? I tell you all, stay away from television ministries, or internet ministries. Especially ones worthy of Oprah going to their mansions to interview them on their outlandish success monetarily. These people have nothing to do with the gospel of Christ. And James Dobson falls in the same category. Get on his mailing list for 6 months, and you’ll see what I’m saying. And you’ll also see the vitriol that comes out of his mouth concerning those who don’t support his brand of cultism.

Read Jude 11-12 that states, “Woe to them! They have taken the way of Cain; they have rushed for profit into Balaam’s error; they have been destroyed in Korah’s rebellion. These men are blemishes at your love feasts, eating without the slightest qualm-sheperds who feed only themselves. They are clouds without rain, blown along by the wind; autumn trees, without fruit and uprooted- twice dead. They are wild waves of the sea, foaming up their shame; wandering stars for whom blackest darkness has been reserved forever”. And read on as Jude says, “…the Lord is coming with thousands upon thousands of his holy ones to judge everyone and to convict all the ungodlyq

  8. pollypinks says:

What these prosperity ministers do is pick one or two verses from the bible that make it easy for them to talk around, tell a bunch of stories with a few amens coming from the crowd, and not put much thought into their sermons. I actually saw and heard Osteen say as much while being interviewed once, that he picks a few scriptures and then works his sermon around them. I think he picks one or two. And has great difficulty in talking about what Christ would have us do in these times. Were we to take all scripture literally, as a woman I would not be leaving my home alone, nor would I be talking to other people. We would have slaves. Many conditions would abound that would create ill health. So obviously many things have changed since the days of biblical coining.

  9. Ike says:

Heard the truly disgusting Murdock say “The only thing I know about those in poverty is that I don’t want to be one of them”. This idiot makes me sick

  10. Susan says:

So-called ministries like this advertise their generosity to the poor on their websites via promotional letters or videos from those charitable organizations. I’m not questioning whether they contribute something or not; whatever that may be. And I’m sure the founder(s) of those organizations are grateful for the support they receive.
But, the real question is …Why use a “middle man” to funnel your money to charity?
Wisdom says ….. give directly to those organizations that are “boots on the ground” and ministering to the poor … then you can be assured that 100% goes directly where needed.
